CODEX LAGMAN

Yesterday it was almost freezing in Toronto, not to mention the rain and strong winds. I photographed three games from 11:30am to 5pm. The umbrella was useless, as the winds were too forceful. I wrapped the camera and myself in a big plastic sheet, with the lens poking out. My shoes were wet and freezing, my fingers were almost numb. Running around with my gear almost blind in the mud wasn't easy. But I had no right to complain as the rugby players -- the toughest athletes I know -- were out there in the mud and cold -- playing the best rugby in Ontario. I've been covering rugby games for two seasons now and I have to say -- it was an honor to be there yesterday at the Finals, and on each game of the regular season. I salute all the players!

Ayer hacía muchísimo frío aquí en Toronto, aparte de los vientos y la lluvia. Tomé fotos en tres partidos, desde las 11:30 am hasta las 5pm. La paraguas no me servía por la fuerza de los vientos invernales. Usé una sábana de plástico para protegerme y mi equipo. Mis zapatos estaban casí congelados, no sentía nada en los dedos. El correr por la cancha no estaba fácil con esas condiciones. Pero me decía yo que no tenía nungún derecho para quejarme porque los jugadores mismos, las atletas mejores que conozco, estaban allá con todo el frío y barro, jugando el mejor rugby en Ontario. Ya tengo dos temporadas como fotógrafo de rugby y tengo que decir que es un honor para mí el hacer lo que hago, el estar allá en los finales y en cada partido de este año y el año pasado. ¡Yo echo un gran saludazo a todos los jugadores!
